S’update: A Very Roleplaying Valentine’s Holiday

As if guys don’t have it rough enough remembering to buy the fairer sex flowers, chocolates and aromatherapy candles, a lot of games are about to be out just before Valentine’s Day. I’ve got Final Fantasy XIII-2 in the mail, while Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and The Darkness II drop next week. Luckily, I’ll probably be going out to dinner with my wife and that’s something hard to forget. I’ll get hungry, we’ll go eat. Play games later. Yeah, I’ve got it locked down.

Are we done being romantic yet? I need to fight trolls.

“Are we done being romantic yet? I need to fight trolls…”

In more personal gaming news, I’ve started allowing my voice to be used in Horrible Night podcasts and must say I rather enjoyed it. Sure, I’m now less likely to listen to a given episode if I was there to record it, but I’m hoping my friends are willing to let me know if I’m keeping it sexy (or not). I’m hoping to submit an application to Vox Games with fingers crossed that I can be a part of that team when things go live. They’ve got a deal of great writers and people I’ve been following for years now in the roster. I would be absolutely beside myself to actually work alongside those guys now that I’ve started writing and growing this desire to produce game-related content. Until then, I’ll keep working on this crazy balance of updating my online presence and keeping my hands and mind busy. Unless I’m in the bathroom… focus is important.

heycheri: Teen Beating Video Goes Viral

heycheri:

Thank you to everyone who helped circulate the teen beating video yesterday. It has since been covered by 40+ media sites and is still spreading. These sites include The Huffington Post, Chicago Tribune, CBS and other Chicago-based news sites. The Huffington Post only just covered the news about…

S’update: amazing DAY

Pulling me away from Gears of War 3 is tough, but having my first article posted on www.horriblenight.com is a big deal. I’m glad to have work up alongside these guys and build up a catalog (and audience) of readers who enjoy the gaming industry. FYI, I wrote the Resistance 3 rated review (link below)

Currently Watching: Breaking Bad

If there was a thing called, let’s say, a bandwagon, I might be one of the last to board it. Breaking Bad is one of those shows where everyone I know is watching it and telling me how great it is and my response is, “Oh, really? Huh. I’ll have to check it out.” Earlier this summer, I finally watched the first two episodes and was pretty hooked on the concept and then… negligence. Here I am though, watching the Season 1 finale thanks to Netflix FINALLY streaming this awesomeness through my Xbox directly into my eyeballs! Let me say, this show is great. Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, everyone else… I LOVE THESE PEOPLE! Between me getting into this and Weeds this year, I’m wondering why I didn’t let my inner-TV-junkie handle the remote sooner.

S’update: I would play a million games…

First of all, still alive!

We’re well into September and the gaming avalanche is upon our bodies! What this means is that I’m going to be pushing myself to crank out reviews of what I’m playing this “holiday” season of everything I get my hands on. Right now, I’m triple-gaming my way through Dead Island, Resistance 3 and Driver: San Francisco and I’ll just say “so far, so good!” I’ll also have a Deus Ex: Human Revolution playthrough up as soon as I have it fully written.

Next week, pile the massive-anticipated Gears of War 3 onto my heap and prepare to watch my head explode in slow motion! SLOOOOOOOOOOW. MOOOOOOOOOOTION.

S’update: “Is this thing on?” That’s not a microphone.

Things. Things are happening.

After a stay in Decatur for an interview for a web development job at ADM, here I am. Home, happy and optimistic. I enjoyed my time there, even if most of it was spent in a small room for hours. Cool place with room to grow (and a cafeteria).

In personal news, I’m still doing things. A lot of time was devoted to Fallout: New Vegas gameplay and a review of that seems a good distance away as I never want to beat it. NEVER! I want to roam that wasteland forever blasting raiders with lasers. However, I just picked up Bastion on PC and a review of that will soon exist upon completion. Promise I won’t review it as if I’m the game’s narrator. I also played my first game of disc golf with my brother-in-law and I’m still sore from 18 holes (twice) in the woods. I’d gladly do it again after I’m done crying about how sore I am.

Videos? Audio reviews? Whenever I get to it. SORE.
